Surviving NICU | Week 3 | Triplet Parenting Stories - Episode 12

As new parents to triplets, the NICU journey was already a challenge in itself. But what happens when you start feeling sick of the hospital environment and want to move to a more comfortable place? This was the challenge that my husband and I faced during the third week of our NICU journey with our triplets.

After weeks of being in the hospital, we realized that we needed a change of scenery. We wanted to move to a hotel nearby the hospital to have more space and comfort while our triplets were still in the NICU. However, little did we know that it would not be an easy task.

We approached the doctors and requested to discharge our triplets so that we could move to the hotel. But to our disappointment, we were informed that we could only take them home once they had gained enough weight and when they were assured that we could take care of them in the right way. This left us feeling helpless, as we were desperate for a change in our environment and to have some level of control in our situation.

As new parents to triplets, we were learning on the job and the NICU journey was an intense learning experience. Every day was different, and we were constantly learning how to take care of our babies and support their growth and development. The accommodation challenge added an extra layer of stress to the situation, leaving us feeling exhausted and overwhelmed.

We then decided to explore other options and found a nearby rent house that was suitable for our needs. We contacted our family and friends, who helped us make arrangements to move to the Airbnb. This was a huge relief for us, as we finally had a comfortable space to rest and rejuvenate while our triplets were still in the NICU.

However, the accommodation challenge was not the only struggle we faced during our NICU journey. As parents, we also went through a lot of mental stress and emotional turmoil seeing our babies in the NICU. The constant beeping of machines, the sight of our babies in incubators, and the uncertainty of their health created an overwhelming sense of anxiety and fear.

We spent long hours in the hospital, watching our babies and praying for their health and well-being. We had to be strong for each other and for our triplets, but there were times when the stress and exhaustion got the best of us.

It was not easy, but we got through it together. Our NICU journey taught us resilience, patience, and the importance of self-care. We learned to lean on each other for support and to find joy in the small moments of progress and growth in our triplets.

In conclusion, the NICU journey is a rollercoaster of emotions and challenges. As parents, it is important to prioritize self-care and seek out support when needed. The accommodation challenge was just one of the many hurdles we faced during our NICU journey, but we learned that with determination and perseverance, we can overcome anything.
